About Kentmere

Welcome to Kentmere

Since 1901, Kentmere has served the residents of Wilmington, Delaware and surrounding communities, providing the highest quality of health care and rehabilitation in a home-like environment. Kentmere offers in-patient rehabilitation, skilled and intermediate nursing, and care for patients with Alzheimer's and other dementias. Our recently renovated facility offers an abundance of private patient rooms with flat screen TVs, includes a state-of-the art 2800 square-foot therapy gym and was rated as "5 Star" earlier this year by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Kentmere cares for up to 104 residents.

At Kentmere, we understand that caring for a loved one requires a special patience. We like to think of ourselves as an "extended family" for our residents, striving to match your love and concern with our skill and compassion. Our staff strive to provide the highest quality of care with an emphasized focus on each individual's physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Kentmere is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence, compassion and life with dignity.

Our Non-Profit Legacy

A wholly volunteer effort funded by private donations, The Home quickly filled with 10 permanent residents. In 1928, a new building adjacent to the original, containing 45 rooms, was opened. They filled quickly. Today, Kentmere Nursing Care Center, operated by The Home of Merciful Rest Society, cares for up to 100 residents in its completely renovated, four-story building situated in the heart of Wilmington, just one quarter mile from both the Brandywine and Rockford Park. Since 1901, Kentmere has catered to this closely-knit community with quality care and a strong rehabilitation program.
